User Guide: LC-6090 UV Flatbed Printer (3x XP600 Printheads)

The LC-6090 is a professional-grade UV solution designed for high-precision printing on almost any substrate up to 150mm thick. With its dedicated CMYK, White, and Varnish channels, it allows for textured “3D” effects and high-end gloss finishes.

1. Critical Pre-Setup & Environment

  • Network Connectivity: This machine uses a High-Speed 1000m Network Port. You must set a static IP on your PC (e.g., 196.12.0.188) to communicate with the printer.
  • Atmosphere Control: To prevent ink from thickening or the printheads from clogging:
    • Temperature: 20°C – 35°C (Stable).
    • Humidity: 35% – 70% RH.
  • Power Supply: Standard 220V, but because it consumes 1200W, ensure it is connected to a high-quality surge protector or UPS to protect the mainboard from South African grid fluctuations.

2. Advanced Ink System Management

This printer features a Negative Pressure CISS, which is more advanced than gravity-fed systems.

  • Ink Pre-Heating: The built-in Damper Heating Device automatically warms the ink. This is vital for consistent flow in cooler morning temperatures.
  • White Ink Circulation: This starts automatically when the machine is switched on. It prevents the titanium dioxide in white ink from settling, which protects your white printhead from blockages.
  • Warning System: If the machine beeps for an “Ink Shortage,” stop printing immediately and refill the tanks to avoid drawing air into the lines.

3. Operating Instructions

Step 1: Media Preparation

  • Suction Platform: Place your material on the bed. Turn on the Suction Platform to “lock” the material in place. This is especially important for lightweight items like foam board or thin leather.
  • Height Adjustment: Ensure the gap between the printhead and the material is exactly 2mm – 3mm.

Step 2: Choosing Your Print Mode

Using Maintop 6.1, you can select your layering technique:

  1. White + Color + Varnish: Used for dark or transparent items (White base > Color image > Gloss finish).
  2. Color Only: For white or light-colored rigid materials.
  3. Varnish Only: Used to add “spot UV” textures to pre-printed items.

Step 3: Using the Rotary Device

  1. Clear the flatbed and install the Rotary Device onto the platform.
  2. Connect the rotary cable to the dedicated port.
  3. Place your cylindrical item (cups, bottles, or candles) between the rollers (40mm – 120mm diameter).
  4. Adjust your software settings to “Rotary Mode” to account for the object’s circumference.

4. Maintenance Best Practices

  1. The Daily Nozzle Test: With three XP600 heads, you must verify that all three (Color, White, and Varnish) are firing correctly every morning.
  2. Wiper Cleaning: The UV ink can build up on the wiper blade. Wipe it daily with a lint-free cloth and specialized UV cleaning liquid.
  3. Bi-Directional Alignment: Periodically run the alignment test in Maintop to ensure that the dots land perfectly while the carriage moves in both directions.
  4. Cooling System: Check that the water-cooling system for the UV lamps is functioning and the water level is sufficient.

5. Material Handling Guide

Material TypePreparation Tip
Glass / MetalWipe with Isopropyl Alcohol and apply a UV Primer for better adhesion.
Leather / PUEnsure the material is flat; use the suction bed to prevent edges from curling.
AcrylicRemove the protective film just before printing to avoid static dust.
Phone CasesUse a custom jig (template) to print multiple cases at once using the 600x900mm bed.

Sourceprinting Pro-Tip: The LC-6090 is a “workhorse.” If you aren’t printing for more than two days, perform a “Wet Cap” (keep the heads seated on a cleaning-solution-soaked capping station) to ensure the heads stay moist and ready for the next job.
